The amount of venture capital money raised by Michigan companies fell sharply in the third quarter, dropping from $114.9 million invested in 11 companies in the second quarter to just $14.5 million invested in seven companies, according to the Money Tree Report issued today by PricewaterhouseCoopers and the National Venture Capital Association and based on data compiled by Thomson Reuters. In the second quarter, Michigan ranked 12th nationally for what was its best quarter for venture capital investing in 14 years and the second best since records began to be kept in 1995.
